Any thoughts on when PS2 production will be discontinued?
It should be able to sellthrough another ~7m in the Americas (4m N.A., 3m S.A.) and probably another ~5m in Others and ~1m in Japan. But we have sellthrough at ~124.5m through March 2009 when shipments should be ~137.5m or so vs. the 136.3m through December 2009.
I think its entirely possible that they'll finish out their production run of PS2 at 140 million, likely halfway through the March 2010 fiscal year (Sept 30, 2009) and that would presumably be enough to keep sellthrough going for 2-3 more years yet due to the fact that all the PS2s needed have been sold to warehouses/built already, allowing Sony to continue collecting software revenues from more PS2 games shipping and more third party PS2 liscencing fees coming into the company,
