animal crossing is a core game. Just not the way the interviewer was talking about core.
The examples that were being used were madworld, the conduit and others as being defined by the masses as "core". Core means two things, one of those is correct, and the other is correct by way of common use.

The other, less correct version, is the games that make up the headliners, traditionally platformers, the faces, if you will, of the console. It is between hardcore and casual and would be games like metroid or zelda or smg.

Of course, the other core is a retrospective term describing the buying habits of the majority, but this other "core" the one she was explicitly asked, and very clearly, I might add, was one in which she had nothing to say in response besides getting defensive. I agree that you can't put too many limitations but seriously a big question is:
Where are all these new "core" ips from nintendo?

In response to this she said, 'you guys said you wanted remakes, you're insatiable.' But in truth, I at least haven't seen any classic "core" ip remakes either besides punchout and animal crossing.
