Well I liked the VAs in SYMPHONIA. I thought they were well suited to their roles and showed enthusiasm. That said, I do think DotNW ups the standards a tad; even though Emil's VA is initially whimpy, his Ratatosk VA cancels that out, and as I said, Marta is great from the start, as is Tenebrae. As for the replacement characters, I didn't find them that bad, and I was at least glad they kept Heather Hogan, Cam Clarke, and Tara Strong.
So I'm sorry but the voice work in SYMPHONIA is NOT bad at all. I think it's quite good for a JRPG. If you want a JRPG with REALLY bad voice acting check out Baten Kaitos--that was plain lifeless compared to Symphonia's VA.
