You could also argue Mass Effect, Uncharted, and MGS 4 as shooters.

 

I beat MGS4 not killing a single enemy so I would argue it isn't a shooter...

I'm not saying it's a shooter (or that it isn't), but there are plenty of shooters you can beat without killing any enemies (except maybe bosses).

 

 

So basically your definition of a shooter is any game that has a gun in it then ? I guess DMC4 is a shooter too then....

 

Besides MGS4 actually rewards you for not shooting things, that's hardly  the case for a shooter ( where they want you to...shoot things (surprise?)).
