The same way people are so aware that typos in thread titles are mere accidents don't try to mock the OP for bad spelling when it's a simple mistake? Wait they don't, so why do you think just telling everyone to proofread is going to go better when most users aren't even aware that spelling errors in titles are mere mistakes? This isn't asking you to do anything for us. This is asking you to make it possible for us to do things ourselves. I know this may be a foreign concept, but people can still make mistakes even when they normally watch what they type. |
You're being asked to proof a single line of text you type. Everything else is editable. If people were watching what they were typing then this wouldn't be much of a concern. It's the haphazard manner in which people post topics that has resulted in screwy thread titles with spelling mistakes.
I don't want this implemented for two reasons. The first is that people will abuse the privilige. This is why we don't have it currently. The second is that if it gets implemented, it will have to be controlled by the staff because of reason number one, which is simply an annoyance because far too many thread titles are mispelled/missing words/misquoted/etc. I'm being totally honest when I say I just frankly don't want PMs all day long asking for thread title adjustments.
