Very true, but by next gen, there wont be a lot of major players anymore. With digital distribution starting, more devs are going independent. The big publishers make most of their money from sucking the life out of devs. Without as many devs requiring a proper publisher, those big names wont be as strong anymore. By 2015, I fully expect to see an end to the reign of big publisher bullying. This means far smaller budgets for games, unless the risk margin is allowed to grow.

 

What Hsrob & you said needed to be quoted, cause I believe too that you will see smaller games, but (i hope) better quality games. Cause I believe now the reason why the length of games seems to be shorten is because of development time and trying to put as much quality as possible in a game in the shortest amount of time...
