CS3 (there is no CS) Support up to flash player 9, full support for ActionScript 3.0, allows things to be converted into ActionScript (tweens etc in AS3.0), adds better integration with other Adobe products such as Adobe Photoshop, and also provides better Vector drawing behavior, becoming more like Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Fireworks.

CS4: Support up to flash player 10, inverse kinematics (bones), basic 3D object manipulation, object-based animation, an enhanced text engine, and further expansions to ActionScript 3.0.

object-based animation is really something different then from the old flash versions.... i don't like it.. and CS4 has things from After Effects ..

Personally I like CS3 the best cause it is not to different from the older version.. great intergration with Photoshop & illustrator... and you can choose which actionscript you want to work in: AS1.0 & AS2.0 or AS 3.0 ......CS4 is really something different and almost forces you to work in AS3.0. BUT If you do animations the inverse kinematics is really something good.... You can do more in CS4 but it's hard if you are used to the old stuff... mainly because of AS3

To bad I'm also a teacher so I'm forced to learn all the new stuff...
