They are dodging it and making us happy at the same time. We can load channels from the memory card, but it only gets loaded into a temporary file on the Wii and the game starts. If I ain't mistaken, Nintendo started making improvements to the loading time between memory card and Wii a while ago and sent it out as an update. The improved loading time was for this, I think.
