because the only people who live in antartica are scientists. And all scientists, without exception, use the metric system. I started liking the metric system when I was doing my first year of high school physics and I realized I could figure out how much a cubic meter of water weighs without using a calculator or even a piece of paper. If you can find the weight of a cubic yard of water in your head.....
