I suppose it could be what bluelave said, but only for USA?
I mean at the end of 2008 170 million units of Wii software had been shipped to the Americas....(from launch to Dec 31st--- includes Wii Sports) so it is feasable that 73 (or 75) million of those were 3rd party.

So it is either 73 million 3rd party software units to date in USA (by NPD) or 73 million 3rd party software units shipped to Americas.
