Yes, but now it's hovering quite stably around 50% and supply issues are over. But it must be repeated that that 50% means an absolute number, as I said and you showed, greater than what PS2 got in the same time, this means that this gen current user base is alredy HUGE, even after 3and 1/2 years for XB360 and only 2 and 1/2 for Wii and PS, and it still has wide growth potential, retiring too early would mean kicking away big possible sales and it would be particularly detrimental to Sony or MS, as they must recover bigger initial investments. |
Thing is Nintendo's Sales arc for the Wii is much larger than that of that 360 and PS3, PS3 and 360 will see tapering demand before the Wii, the Wii for example has yet to see a price drop or an alternative color come out, unlike its competitors
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
