weird thing is that I kinda had this problem ONLY with mass effect and Fable II. Both these games are data intensive and one day I got these circular rings around both these discs and I thought they were done for..
But it turned out they were actually marks caused from the laser mechanism or some sort of grease smudge that came from it.
Gave the discs a good rub and they play like new although the discs have fine hair line scratches now on the surface.
Thanks to the NXE update most games that really seem to make the dvd drive spin into overdrive I install to the HDD.
