It's listed right below "NPD Talk", so it's probably refering to sellthrough according to NPD.

 

No, NPD hasn't released anything for March, nor will they early to anyone.  Sega is happy off shipments.  Just bad placement by whoever we copy and pasted this from.  I'm guessing the game shipped a decent amount in the first couple of weeks.

I could be wrong, but I think sales can be reported to all paying customers at any time. It'd be pretty stupid to pay a large sum of money to get info a mere ~day earlier than the public, granted it's far more detailed and covers everything(rather than top 10/30/etc.) Obviously Sega can't release exact information, but they should be able to comment about it.

 

Still it probably is about shipments.
