That's interesting. Why would dev costs not get greater, if there's justification for a whole new generation of consoles, to begin with? Are you suggesting that the next generation will be... the same, from a technological standpoint?

i think the tech will follow the same path which would mean better devkits from the start, easier coding, more efficient coding, better understand fot developers since theyve had this gen as a warm up. this gen baffled some devs at the begining but next one theyll have a hang of it right out the gate. also 3rd parties could port over their graphics engine and maximize it instead of total new ones or major over hauls making licensing engines easier and less costly

So... the next gen will make life easier on the devs, by costing the console makers more money to produce the consoles and devkits, but keeping the price low for the consumers? =)

I think what he means is that the shift from this generation to the next won't be as drastic as the shift from standard to high definition was. Instead of new engines being developed, the old ones will just be tweaked, reused, and/or sold for a lower price... I think that's what he's getting at.
