Which in this case would limit your ability to pirate and distribute their wares.
While I'm a gainst most DRM use because most content providers fail to utilize it properly, I'm not against the basic pricniple. A DRM that allows you to transfer files between your SD card and Wii internal storage is all you need to start with. Save files could be granted less strict DRM so they can be taken to a friends house for use.
A USB HDD solution would not have this kind of protection for content providers and would be at the mercy of rampant priacy that rivals PC gaming. Certainly not something Nintendo wants themselves and 3rd parties to deal with.
