FF TA2, DQIV, and FFIV are going to be interesting. If we see continued decline than maybe there is something to this post. I doubt we will though. I expect all three to sell in the 500k to a million range.

The thing is, games like Final Fantasy really should be something special; they should not use this name for so much games IMO, and if they have bad luck, they'll really hurt the reputation of the series and see lower sales numbers for the main series too.

Of course you can argue that Nintendo is doing the same with Mario, but the difference is that the Mario games that come out all the time are in completely different genres than the original games, so a Mario platformer is still something special.
