Sega Dreamcast (1998 - 2001) lifetime sales 9.13 million
Sony PS3 ( 2006/2007 - ???) current lifetime sales 21.31 million
Nintendo Game Cube (2001 - 2005) lifetime sales 21.59 million
Microsoft Xbox (2001 - 2005) lifetime sales 24.76 million
I recall the Dreamcast was a really good console with poor third party support. The PS2 announcement killed its initial sales momentum, and the announcements of the Game Cube and Xbox made Sega realized they didn't have the money to compete. I don't really see any comparisons between the PS3(excellent third and first party support) and the Dreamcast.
