Correct. Their next console won't have the Wii Moniker and adding HD at the end of the new name would just be silly. Though they have stated several times back in 2006/2007 that their next home console will be HD.
The SD card is already built in. Why ignore such an elegant solution for something that is bulky, not very portable and less secure than the SD card solution? True you get more GB per dollar via a HDD but it isn't like SD cards are expensive either.

All I am asking is what exactly is wrong with doing it? Who is asking them to ignore SD? What is so wrong with a simple basic upgrade so I can use my USB 300GB with my wii and enjoy my photos on TV without having to transfer them to SD first?
Basically there is no good reason why they don't do it (at least from what I've heard so far).
Bulky? It is a 2.5" External drive. How on earth can that be bulky next to the tiny wii. Together they make a far less footprint than any other console.
Portable? I don't intend to walk around with it my pocket. Isn't that what the SD card for?
Less secure???? ????????????
It's like I said, no proper reasons.
