I will announce here that, just as I happen to be allergic to fanboyism, I must not have a good reaction to hype.
After see all the hype on how awesome Valkyria Chronicles is supposed to be, and told I had to try the demo, I did, with the idea of possibly getting the game if I liked the demo. Well, after playing the demo, I am seriously wondering why I would want to spend $60 for it. To me, it isn't all that. It is cool, but NO WAY does it seem to be worth that. Drop it to $40 and I would consider it more, but not at $60. And this may be more out of a feeling of guilt that I need to back Sega, and that it is a said "innovative" title which deserves to sell a lot so we can get more.
The problem here is all this hype. You set the bar WAY high for me when you make it out to be all that, "and a bag of chips". I will give credit where credit is due here and say that I like the artistic style. It is a fresh take on cell shading.
Before you say it may not be my type of game, I like wargames. I also like an occasional RPG. I personally am not a fan of the jump to 3D view to move units. If I am doing a wargame, I want to see my units on the board, not zoom into 3D (mouse eye) view.
