I'll call bullshit, (again). Who's writing these articles as of late. They've gone from terrible to "welcome to gaming journalism".

I call bs on the ports bit, ANY JRPG lover doesn't care less if the port is a year late, they would still buy it. There is no solid proof of a JRPG popularity on the PS3, I'd like to know where it's getting it's numbers from excluding japan.

What JRPG fan would turn down the opportunity to play a port of a game released a year earlier on a machine that has virtually zero of them?

NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if you look at sales of Eternal Sonata, and that other JRPG then you'd notice that the year late port did not sell that well on the PS3. Regarding JRPG fans that do that, ask them, not me? I merely analyse the statistics.

Look at Bioshock PS3 as well, the sales of that game were far from substantial.

Regarding proof that JRPG's sell well on the PS3. Well disregarding the fact that the userbase is three times larger than the Xbox 360, just look at some of sales for the JRPG's released exclusively on the PS3.

Disgea 3, a niche, 2D game sold about the same as its PS2 counterparts.

Demon Souls, barely a JRPG sold about 100,000.

White Knight Chronicles, got average reviews from Famitus and it sold 300,000+

For those laying blame on Sony. This article isn't about that, although Sony does have some blame.

This is from my blog:

To those interested. I did not explore Sony’s role in all this simply because this article was written to explore the JRPG developers decisions and how it was in detriment to themselves.

The JRPGs sell piss poor in the West even on the DS, no need to blame the developers for the lack of consumers.

I already acknowledged this fact in the article. The point I was making was that the companies were reducing the userbase of their only viable market, which is Japan.

PREDICTION:

60M PS3's by the end of it's Life Span (Anything between 5 to 10 years)
