Microsoft probably made mistakes in judgment when drafting their contracts giving payouts to SE for releasing games on 360.

If SE is getting some kind of lump payment from MS, it gives SE an incentive to just put out mediocre games, quickly, and move on, having pocketed the MS money.

I don't think SE would have agreed to an arrangement under which they made good money *only if* the 360 game sold well, as that was just too unlikely to happen.  Best in that case to release on PS3 as well, since it has 3x the install base in Japan.  But MS wanted to say 360 was the JRPG console, so they went forward buying JRPGs.  And now SE is humbled and Mistwalker has lost tons of its thunder and JRPG developers are having to deal with the fallout.

Funny how Zenfoldor interprets the above as Sony failing fans due to greed.
