I told you, you most likely would come away disappointed by the Wii. I know I have been. Galaxy was solid but not spectacular. (Mario 64 it was not). Twilight Princess was solid but not spectacular. (And could be played on a GC). Smash Brothers was worse than the GC version, etc, etc.
IMHO, people who own the Wii are primarily composed of complete casuals (Moms, Grandparents, etc essentially people who thought it was neat!), Young kids who had the system bought for them by parents wanting a more kid friendly system and the deep down Nintendo lovers who have had their roots back to the NES/SNES days.
I fall into that last category. With that being said, Gamecube had a handful of solid games, as does the Wii. The game selection on the Wii however isn't even as good as the N64 one IMHO. (Which while top heavy, wasn't that strong overall).
Nintendo has bothered me increasingly since the SNES days. Always the same handful of games every generation(Which are usually good, but honestly many times aren't 'that' great). with very little meaningful third party support.
The Wii is no exception as far as I'm concerned. Using 6 year outdated Hardware essentially, selling it for a higher price than the Xbox 360 (Which does HD graphics) and even considering RAISING prices in the current economic climate? (Despite record breaking profits?) Nintendo knows it has a dedicated core fanbase (Old Nintendo players and now Old Nintendo players with children who they want to buy a more kid friendly system for) and they abuse them thoroughly.
If it's not a lack of titles, it's a higher price than what the system is actually 'worth'.
The Wii fooled me like the GC did before it. Nintendo won't fool me again.
