I think Americans are bored of JRPG...they are much more interested in WRPGs now as are a lot of us. The amount of unoriginal JPRPGs that were being churned out in the past has hurt the likes of VC. Still, I'm not sure how much of a marketing push Sega gave VC and whether that style of JPRG is appealing to an Ameican audience as opposed to the FF style.
