Yeah, but at the same time the PS3/360 didn't have so many notable releases consistently like this year either. The recent big PS3/360 games may have caused the Wii to lose steam.

I really don't think the PS360 and wii are in "direct" competition to the point of cannibalizing wii sales. It simply got old. JP has "finicky" tastes. PS3 and 360 still drop right back after their software boosts and these never affected the wii before.
