Actually, the NES was sneaky about price cuts. In 1988, the Control Deck ($200; system + 1 controller only) and Deluxe Set ($250; system, 1 controller, R.O.B., Zapper, Duck Hunt, Gyromite) were phased out, and replaced with the Action Set ($150; system, 2 controllers, Zapper, SMB + Duck Hunt) and the Power Set ($200; same as Action Set plus Power Pad and World Class Track Meet). So while technically no set ever received a price cut, discontinued sets were clearly priced higher overall than later ones.
