To me the most important part in a jrpg storyline is to have great pacing that always has you tackling something new, Alot of plot twist that keeps you guessing, characters you can actually connect with, and alot of deep and emotional event in the storyline.

You are describing Persona 4. Have you played it?

I wish. I only played Persona 3 which was a great game but it had alot of down time in the storyline. And there were a few plot twist with some being very unexpected like when you find out that by killing all of those full moon monsters you unsealed Nyx and now we are all gonna die. Also when you find out that Nyx was sealed within the main character.

Well, P4 is similar, but the story is more complex and has more twists, I can understand the down time you speak of, since when you already cleared the levels in Tartarus (or the dungeon in P4) you're left with time where the story doesn't move forward. Anyway, if you liked P3, you really should play P4, it's all the great things P3 had but much better.
