College football is very big in lots of places in America. Especially rural parts that don't have professional teams. It is so popular that there are people who don't follow pro football and only follow college football.
If you ever go to Alabama you'll see that everybody either has an Auburn or Alabama sticker on their car.. even if they've never been to either of those colleges.
