I was trying to get at, each console was profitable.  Yes M$ has a large debt that needs to be payed for, however it is well on its way to doing that.  Even with another drop in price it will more than likely still make a profit.  And the other point is (Sony) with another price drop is headed in the other direction.  

(2) Anytime a company introduces an item out into the public domain, it will incur a lot of loss until it can get on its feet.  And thats why M$ has stuck with the gaming divisison and why they are on their way to making a profit this gen.

I'm just saying that you seem to be using two definitions of "profitable" and you need to cut it down to one.  Or at least don't use one definition just for Sony and the other just for MS.

Profitable for each console sold is not 2 seperate definitions.  I seriously don't get what your point is.  I just stated that M$ was profitable for over a year, how is that not in line with being profitable with each console sold?  When the original xbox came out it wasn't profitable and lost all those billions, so it actually furthers my point.

And as for the nintendo comment, nintendo didn't have much competition when it came out so it is pretty much the exception to the rule.  Not to mention it has always sold its consoles at a profit.

It sounded earlier like you were saying "MS is profitable now, but Sony won't be profitable until it makes up all its losses", which MS hasn't done for the period beginning in 2005 per an earlier post which you have not to my knowledge disputed.  So that would be two contradictory definitions unless you feel I have misinterpreted you, in which case please explain. 

I was referring to Nintendo and the Wii.  As for always selling at a profit, yes it does, which explains how it can fly in the face of your earlier assertion.  Also, I don't know this for sure, but didn't Sega do the same thing up until the Saturn?  If true, this (and Atari 2600, etc.) would seem to make the last decade of loss leaders the anomaly, and not Nintendo's non-loss-leader model.
