How exactly do things get undertracked? Where does VGC get it's data from that leaves it open to such large discrepancies? This is actually a serious question---I'm genuinely curious.

Actually, I think the data answered my own question. The NPD data included the CE while I don't believe the VGC data did. Considering that the rest of the data is accurate, I'm going to posit that this is the reason for the discrepancy. The #s on VGC are probably correct for the non-CE bundled additions and, most likely, accurately reflect how the game is selling currently---VGC just missed that first 250k (though that's a LOT to miss, it makes sense). Won't know for sure until the March #s come out. If the March #s match, then we'll know that this was the case.
