I think these days it takes a really unique game to create a real system seller. With sooooo many console FPS's even a great one like KZ2 will have a hard time shifting HW. Halo did it because it was one of the first console FPSs to actually "get it" and not just try and shoehorn a PC control scheme into a controller (funny since it started off as a Mac/PC game). Wii Sports was successful at shifting hardware because it was likewise earth shattering. KZ2 seems much like the tagline would suggest "War. Perfected" meaning it is an evolution of a genre, but not a revolution. LBP was the one I expected to shift PS3 HW because it really was blazing a new trail, but for some reason that game has been largely ignored.
The hope for Sony is at some point to reach a critical mass of good exclusives so that everybody just can't live without one. I think they are moving in that direction, and certainly a price cut will help. But this progression has been slowed down dramatically with the 360 stealing a lot of expected exclusives. So who knows what it will take to change the tide.
