Already explained in this thread:

Me saying the PS3 can't beat the 360 isn't just a wld guess or because I think the games will make the difference, it's just looking at the numbers.

If the PS3 dropped price tomorrow and suddenly became such a selling machine that it outsold the 360 by 100k per month, it would take more than 6 1/2 years for the PS3 to just catch up to the 360.

In order to just catch up to 360 in a reasonable amount of time, say two years, the PS3 would have to OUTSELL (not just sell) the 360 more than 350k per month for two straight years.

So yeah...

6 and a half year? that works out perfect by the end of the 10 year plan the PS3 will have outsold the Xbox 360 confirmed :)

It'll take a while but the PS3 will eventually win this generation.

Even if that did happen (which it wont), in 6 1/2 years the next Microsoft console will have already been released and settled in nicely and it just won't matter.

The "who won this gen" doesn't get decided when the last PS3, 360 , or Wii is made, it's going to be decided (well absolute final decided) when the next gen starts.

Isn't the end of the generation suppose to be when the last PS3, X360, and PS3 is made? You can still have the next new generation going it's just that this generation can keep going while the new generation is going.

And by the time the next generation starts the PS3 should still be able to compete with game quality with the new generation (obviously every console next generation should be more powerful then the PS3). But if next generation something new is brought to the gaming world (like the Wii mote for this gen) then the PS3 will likely just fail once the next generation starts, but if everything is basically the same as this generation except improved graphics then the PS3 should still sell pretty good even though the next gen has started.

Also hard to say what the Xbox 360 will be like once the next generation begins, will Microsoft continue to support the X360 like Sony does the PS2 or will they just focus everything on there new console? that's pretty important to know. And also depends what the Nintendo will be doing, whether they'll go big on graphics or some else new for next generation.

Anyway hard to say anything because it's too soon, but I just have a hunch that later on down the road the PS3 will be doing extremely well, with a nice cheap price (remember 75% of sales is with the price at $200 or less).
