The price cut helped, but the PS3 used a signifigant price cut to boost early 2008 over 2007, and nobody had any qualms about that...
As for the Wii...how is it that the 360 consistently deliver the strongest 3rd party sales?...or on a sales ratio, is able to top the Wii in some markets, using the logic you're trying to use.
