Why would they include Metal Gear? I'm a huge Metal Gear fan but the NES version was pretty bad, Kojima even called it "complete garbage".

No, it didn't. It wasn't even Metal Gear.

 

Metal Gear came out on the MSX. Then someone remade it for NES. They are two completely different games and the two Metal Gears on the NES are as Hideo Kojima said, "complete garbage."
