Brett has spoken and the thread should be closed. VGC figures will be in line with NPD. OP nice, the boss has shot you down.

how comes everytime brett speaks everyone goes into worship mode? yes, he owns the site and should be shown respect, but some people can brown nose to no end!

Here's the problem: It's not about what Brett says. It's about hard facts. And the hard facts are:

  • This site is talking out of it's rear end concerning the 1.1m preorders.
  • We know for certain that Killzone 2 did not break any sort of meaningful records in the UK, thus ensuring that the game did not sell anywhere near the 1.1m preorders as stated
  • Every iota of data points to Sony BSing and spinning numbers in odd ways to make these Sony fans think that KZ2 did something it did not.

It's not so much Brett-worshipping, as it is fact checking, and realizing he's right.

I agree with this. But i think the numbers will be reported lower then we have. By how much i'm unsure. Reason i think that is simply down to the fact as a media analyst i know a company likes to blow their own horn. Sony came out saying the game had millions of pre-orders, that hypes the game up as people think wow loads of people want it! When reality is that the number means shipped to stores. The fact the game is in it's 3rd week in the wild and we have yet to hear the trumpet blowing from Sony towers makes me think something is not as it would seem. Sony spent so much money on this game that they would be quick to inform the world of it's success. This is how things work. It is the chest thumping momment when you can proclaim to be great. And lets be honest here Sony needs this chest thumping momment more then it has ever needed it. Posting the financial bomb that is posted recently, mixed with the sacking of staff, closing down of factories and what not, the complete freefall of it's share and so on. It needed to report some good to news. The fact that news piece has not come for me is a little odd. I have no doubt that it has been written, it probably sits in the PR sectors desk waiting for the green light to be given. The question then becomes why has it not been given? Only logical answer i can come up with is that maybe they are waiting for the official NPD numbers to be posted, then put some tried and tested Sony spin on the figures. Which again would lead me to believe they can't be as high as we all think if they are waiting for that.

yes but you have to remember sony aint like that, they never usually release sales figures for games. your mistaking them for microsoft who release sales figures for their games all the bloody time. nintendos games sell million and million yet we never see them coming out and saying x game sold 3 million on its first minute.
