i think they are holding back games because why should they spend money developing games when they could completely stop making new games for the rest of the generation and just release wiiware games and still keep up the same kind of sales.

That is obviously not true. Look at the effects of them not releasing too many new games has on the Wii sales in Japan. Also like everybody has said for ages. Nintendo is a software company that makes hardware to fit their software, not the other way around. Yes Nintendo could think they could make alot of money off of hardware, but they were and always will be a software company, and that means they will be making future releases. Also you must be in major denial if you think they will only release wiiware games the rest of it's life.

I don't believe a word of it. Nintendo is the only area where sales are dropping, which I should mention are about half the sales of the US, everywhere else it has grown despite what you call not releasing too many new games.

Sales have increased by a lot.

I'm not in denial, I'm saying they wouldn't have to release anything this year except wii ware games, and sales would still grow. Just look at this past year.

Also, I have a theory about the Japan drop, it's simply because everyone already has one :P

I somewhat agree with you then. I think Nintendo knows that they don't have to rush making their games, because the console will sell well regardless(in a certain time period), but they still have to release games or the console will become undesirable to alot of the Wii's demographics. Nintendo is the only company that seems to get it right with all demographics, while the others only target the supposedly 'hardcore' or the 'casual', and most likely not even suceed with making a good game for their targeted audience. So yes they could go a while without releasing too many games compared to Microsoft or Sony, but they still need to make games so they could keep the momentum going. They just have more options than the other two companies. As for everybody in Japan having a Wii, I doubt that. The wii didn't even sell a third of the DS' sales, and the DS still sells higher weekly. They both target similar audiences, and the only major difference is one is a handheld while the other is a console(which WILL acount for a huge difference , but not one this big). Also notice how the sales go down exactly when their is a dry period of mainstream games. Some look at it and say first party, but in reality it's mainstream. Nintendo is pretty much the only company that has released main stream games for the Japanese audience on the Wii and that is why people get confused. The other regions don't have this problem because they have mainstream releases from Nintendo and a few from Third Parties, and if Nintendo is lacking third parties pick up.
