Yeah, that's why the 360 is selling million every week there. |
The reason the 360 doesn't sell as much as the Wii is because of the different sku's. People don't buy the $199.99 model because they know it is a gimped model. And they don't buy the pro model at $299.99 because it is more expensive than the Wii. Now, it is true that the 360 sells games at the $60.00 mark. However, that is because the vast majority of the games on the 360 are better in many ways than the vast majority of Wii games. There have really only been three Wii games that have sold in these grand numbers that people talk about (four if you count Wii Sports but I have boycotted counting Wii Sports as one of these titles even though it has sold 43 million copies almost all of those have come as a result of it being in the Wii's box and very little due to any real merits of the game itself; look at it this way, 43 million Wii Sports have sold that were in the Wii's box; however, 48 million Wii's have sold that means that apparently 5 million copies of Wii Sports that weren't bundled failed to sell to keep up with the pace of the Wii). Wii Play sold because people could get a free controller with it. Wii Fit because of endorsements from the media and fitness clubs. Heck, those three titles aren't even real games. Mario Kart sold because its Mario Kart, but that was really the only one of the Wii's real games to sell all that exceptionally well, and it hasn't been picked up by 32 million of the Wii's users as of yet. Then, there is a huge gap between the 4th and 5th place Wii games in terms of sales of about six million copies.
When you get down to the Wii's best game Super Mario Galaxy, even though it costs ten dollars less, it still trails the 360's signature game which costs $10 more by a million in sales despite the Wii's seventeen million more install base than the 360.
As a matter of fact, despite being better games many of the 360's games don't sell that well at the $60.00 price tag.
Wii games like Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Carnival Games, Wii Play, Wii Music, and Wii Sports Resort would not sell at a $60.00 price tag.
Heavens to Murgatoids.
