It's a game Neo-conservatives like to play... it goes something like this.

Lots of work out there in just building the 26 or so nuclear power plants we're supposed to be making. We could still use more though.
Well that and every time the enviromental policies change they have to pay people to come in and redsign freaking everything.
So even if Obama wanted them to go ahead they'd probably have to redesign everything sicne his enviromental polcies will thankfully be better.
Which he probably won't. So those spots will probably just sit barren for another 8 years or so.

Its not just environmental policy that slows the building of Nuclear Power Plants, its building in general. 20 - 30 yrs is the quote to start fresh and build 10 Plants in Australia. Well in 20 - 30 yrs time it will most likely be too late, we need to start upscaling, and lowering unit prices, on renewable technology that can go anywhere, on any roof, in any city. And we can start all this now, listen to T Boone Pickens or the former head of Sun Microsystems. They are all putting cash into renewables, please pay attention.

Pay attention to what? I fully agree that renewable energy is the future.
I'm infact quite more radical on that then you i'd bet. I think all of our money should be going to noncombustible "true" renewables.
What i don't agree with is using untrue fearmongering to get there.
Also in the US it takes much less time to build a nuclear plant. Something like 7 years from the time of applying.
