They will more than likely send you a new or newly refurbished unit with all of the recent "fixes" to prevent known current failures. My DVD drive crapped out and though they could have simply swapped the DVD out for a new one, I got a NEW unit that was manufactured about two weeks before I got it... If you have a Japanese one and sent it in to microsoft from outside the region, that might be an issue... I'd call the 1800 number and ask on that one...
