The Cell isn't flawed as a concept -no more than any other kind of processor, anyway- but Sony failed to release proper tools for programming the thing. The tasks it's well-suited for don't have to be hard, but they haven't put in the effort to make it easy for the developers, and that has killed every other console that tried to deviate from the typical architecture in the past.

It would have killed the PS3 by now, too, except that the HD market is too small. It can't sustain third parties with only one console, so devs have little choice but to go multiplatform: the cost of porting is still less than the money from another console's fanbase, and while it wouldn't be enough to be worth bothering with in a healthy market, right now it's essential for keeping third parties afloat. Thus, the PS3 still gets games.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
