- Doom and Doom II. Old classics never die. Personally I've always preffered Wolfenstein 3D and its sequel, Spear of Destiny, but you might want to check the shareware version first.
- Battle for Wesnoth is a free 2D strategy game. You should try it.
- Recently Iji has caught my eye. It's a combination of a platformer and a shooter. Sort of. It's also free.
- Baldur's Gate is something that is probably good once you get into it. The sequel isn't too bad either, I suppose. Both are fine.
- Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom. Master of Olympys: Zeus. City-builders.
- Diablo II doesn't need to be introduced.
Oh wait, a graphics card is fine as long as it's not too powerful?
- Quake Live just recently entered an open beta. It's a free browser-based game.
- Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is free, too.
