In a way, yes. I guess you could say that I'm calling Vesperia's story to be cookie-cutter. Let's be honest, it borrows a lot of classic cliches from anime. There's nothing wrong with that, though. In fact, I liked it |
It borrowed a few anime cliches but when it came to the aer/blastia parts of the storyline I have never seen that in any anime. Even the whole justice part of the storyline was not from an anime. Most anime focus on super power people and stuff.

Eh...I'd say there's a lot of justice and corrupt governments and stuff in anime. And Blastia is just like the normal power source like Mana or something.
|
Heck, there's lots of corrupt government scenarios in western films and games as well.
To the people that point out cliche anime tendancies in RPGs...what about western RPGs? Plenty of cliches we've all experienced. I'm sure Dragon Age will be well reviewed and praised for it's story among other things. We've all seen it before too!
Undead hordes lead by evil dark wixard person bent on taking over the world.

I agree. It all depends on how the game uses these elements and Tales of Vesperia does a great job when it came to the whole corrupt goverment theme.
