The PS3 is emulating, the Wii is running it natively. Because it is emulating, the PS3 can do things differently than the Wii can. The Wii has absolutely perfect backwards compatibility, the PS3 doesn't. It's a trade-off. They would have to make drastic changes to the wii's "gamecube" system to get it to work like the PS3's backwards compatibility, and it would break the "perfect" backwards compatibility that the Wii offers now.
Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.
