EDIT: hey, had someone been in the right place at the right time, they could have helped. So 1-2 people had a gun, but where inside and didn't have time to react. Take some of the other shootings that have happened in past years. Some of those could have been stopped much earlier had a civilian with a gun been present if he was in the right area.

Wouldn't it have been better if he didn't have access to guns and armor to begin with?

 

You do know that 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999% of crimes commited with guns were obtained illgeally right? Let me ask you, would you rob someone if you thought they had a gun? Probably not. Look at other places that have outlwaed guns, their crime went UP not down. Now stop talking out your ass. Leave america for the UK or something. enjoy cutting your steak with a spoon.

 

Notice how incidents involving guns went down. Surprising isn't it? And of course I'd rob someone if I knew they had a gun if I had a gun too. I'd have it in their face before they had their in mine. Look at Japan, it has some, if not the most, stingent laws on guns and their gun violence crimes are non-existant. Usually they involve assassinations, go figure.

Also I'd much rather eat my steak with a spoon than with hands, as I've seen many do here in the US.

First off, to complete remove guns (the only way to really stop gun crimes) would mean removing hunting, which is a legitimate method of feeding a family (I know quite a few hunters). Also, it is a very enjoyable sport, I suggest you try shooting some time.

Also, in the UK, gun crimes are down, but knife/sword crimes are up. We have much lower knife crime rates than the UK, but we have higher gun crime rates. As I stated (i think in another thread) communities which have conceal carry laws have lower violent crime rates than anywhere else in the US (look it up if you wish). Also, if people really want to kill, they will use whatever they can get their hands on, it doesn't matter if it is a gun or not. So yay, we stopped gun crime, but baseball bat crime is at an all new high.

Teach people to be responsible and to defend themselves and you have a much better deterent than just removing one of the many possible weapons. I mean, the guy could have just made pipe bombs and tossed them out his window while driving, that would have worked too..

Are you assuming here that it's as easy to kill a person with a weapon that requires that the person is within 2 meters at most with something which can be lethal from any reasonable distance? Not to mention that 1 stab or hit with a baseball bat usually isn't lethal. So here you are saying he'd be runnign around stabbing people to death and the people will just stay and watch and await their turn?
