Hmmmmmm....you might be on to something :D

@ Hryuken
We don't even have all territories in yet. A bit premature, no?

We'll it could still be a PS3 worldwide week if the Japan numbers have the PS3 20k+ ahead of the 360. But i was refering to europe. Europe has become far more important sales wise then Japan. Japan has gone as i told you at start of the year, down bigtime and will continue too (wonder if your now prepared to say i was right and you were wrong about that seeing as your nearly 1m units out in just 3 months?). Europe is the war Sony must win. MS has won NA, it is a no contest as the 360 is nearly 9m units ahead there. Sony has won Japan in terms of PS3 vs 360. But the difference there is like 2m. Where as in Europe Sony attacked this period like never before, spent an absolute fortune on advertising the console and the games. For that to then drop back to last after 1 week has to be seen as dissapointing for them. Europe is where Sony needs to win.

Not sure if it can be seen as a "disappointment". PS3 hasn't had a price drop yet in Europe, that is 2-years now on the 23rd(?), 360 has had 2 or 3 in the last year. It costs nearly double the price and is only 10k behind it in sales.

The numbers actually look better for Sony than people give credit for. Remember, since the same time last year, sales only dropped 4.5k YoY for this week. I would say that is pretty good news.

PS3 is also more expensive in Europe compared to the rest of the world if I am not mistaken. I'll see if I can dig up the thread but Sony is most likely profiting per console sold in Europe. I am sure Sony said the PS3 is going to break even this year, so with a higher price in Europe they must at least be breaking even over there.

Not entirely sure on how the whole Yen thing works, so I could be way off. Either way, that is just my outlook on things.

This is actually a very civil sales thread.

The PS3 has had price drops mate, not Sony official price drops but the console is now cheaper then what it is. If you shop around you can dind some nice deals like i mentioned, the KZ2 bundle with LBP for £269 is a price cut of types. If you look at

http://www.findprice.co.uk/fp/Games_Consoles/Compare-prices-Sony-PLAYSTATION-3-Console-80-GB-Model/1849355/product.htm

you see very few if any are listed as the Sony required £299. Play has it for £249.49. £50 ($100) cheaper then requested.

So in terms of official drops from Sony i can't even remember the last time there was one of those! But stores are not stupid, in these times of recession they know they have to cut costs themselves or nobody will buy them. Like i was in Blockbuster the other day and i saw a PS3 with a choice of 3 Blu-Ray films and a game for £275. These are the gimmick deals that are needed to shift consoles. So PS3 has not stayed the same for 2 years as you suggest, it is cheaper now and has a lot more varied variations of deals to choose from. Like if i had not already got a PS3 i might go for this deal from Amazon. You get a 80GB PS3, a hdmi cable a choice of any game and if you pay £10 more you get another game of your choice, all for the great price of.....£289

So there are cheaper PS3's out there then what you suggest, and what Sony want you to pay, just have to look for them :)
