It doesn't matter WHEN Diablo 3 is released, it will sell millions and millions. Blizzard doesn't need the crutch "holiday sales" to destroy all others (Look at The Burning Crusade, it was released 2 weeks after new years and sold 2.4 mil 1st week).
As for the date, assuming they it is legit we must follow the following formula:
A = T + (6+(s*2))
Where A is the actual release date, T is the said release date and s is the amount of times they say "soon." All numbers are in months.
