I don't think it's fair to say FPS don't do well on the Wii. There have barely been any FPS games at all, especially original efforts.
The best we had before CoD was MoH2, a PSP port, with great controls. It did alright in so far as sales go. Nothing "amazing", but you can't point at it and say it was a flop.
And at this point, CoD is about to cross the million seller list, so that alone blows the whole "fps games don't sell on Wii" to meaty, moist chunks. (And we already mentioned Red Steel.)
To me, this is like Field of Dreams. If you build it, they will come.
