I think everyone here for the most part is in agreement, it's not the price, or the need for colors...it's the current "MAJOR" games drought on the Wii. For it to not go as low as it's competitors (13k or less) have without any major games means the games that are currently on it in Japan are sustaining, BUT not building.
...Personally I AM HOPING Nintendo has a few announcements at GDC in a few weeks, to help push sales back up in Japan.
Also, i think the situation in Japan is the same everywhere, It's the games that matter the most not the "NEXT BIG" price cut or color...
The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!
...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?
