Honestly, I think FFVII would have turned out better if Cloud got gunned down by Shinra instead of Zack. Not sure what they did to him in Crisis Core but the Zack of FFVII wasn't the whiny emo bastard that Cloud was. Hell, he probably would pushed Aerith out of the way instead standing their like a useless tool. Also, I don't think he would have went "Chris Brown" on Aerith at the Temple of the Ancients either. Nothing like an whiny, emo, crying, woman beating lead character to make a game the "greatest" in the series.
