How Microsoft defeated Sony.

Do you really think that this "Fall of PlayStation" is led by MS or something? Microsoft couldn't defeat their own damn self if they wanted to. It's probably the reason why their OS's keep getting shittier and shittier.

Actually it's a fairly known fact that the Xbox and later 360's main goal was to stop a multimedia device from winning the console war again because Microsoft didn't want the idea of a multiamedia center fronted by a videogame system in the public schema.

They want to hold if off until people are comfortable enough with computers to hook up their computers to their TVs.

 

 

1. Link or it didn't happen. The 360 itself is a multimedia device and it was made by MS in the hopes of winning the console war. Company's make products with the intention of defeating their competition....but this isn't the only thing that they are concerned with. To say that MS's "goal" was the "fall of the PlayStation brand" is closing your eyes to reality: both HD consoles are getting pwnd by Nintendo.

2. You may not have looked at the post that I was referencing my response to. The overwhelming success of Nintendo is the reason Sony is in the situation they are now. It has nothing to do with Microsoft. The sales charts show this very clearly.

1. Well, obviously Microsoft wouldn't mind a multimedia device if it was their multimedia device. They just don't want a Sony computer in everyone's living room. And whether or not the HD twins are getting owned by Nintendo doesn't really have anything to do with whether or not the fall of the Playstation was Microsoft's goal; it was.

2. It's mostly to do with Nintendo, and Sony's own incompetence, of course. But it also has a little to do with Microsoft. They are clearly stealing potential Sony customers, and Sony would be in a much better position if Microsoft wasn't in the console business.
