Sony and advertising are 2 things that do not go hand in hand.  If anything, GOW3 will be lucky to have the sales of its previous incarnations.  There is a much lower install base and people are a lot more stingy with there money now.  This could be a very bad thing for the series over all because it costs so much more money now to develop a game like GOW3.
